Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, inventor and town planner. He had 100s of invention ideas, some that we use today. Some ideas were the submarine, plane, parachute and machine gun. The reason these weren't built long ago is because they didn't have the materials to make them. 
    He also painted many famous paintings, such as the Last Supper and Mona Lisa.
